Nun and Kun are the two sought after peaks located in Suru valley of Kargil district of Ladakh union territory. It can easily be viewed from any place of Suru valley. The peak remain covered with snow for round-year resulted in the huge accumulation of snow which adds it to list of the world famous glacier of Himalaya in the world. This glacier starts melting in summer and drained into the Suru River. People inhabited along the Suru river benefited from it.

Elevation : 

Nun, 7,135 m (23,409 ft) and its neighbour peak Kun Peak, 7,077 m (23,218 ft). Nun is one of the highest peaks in the part of the Himalayan range lying on the Indian side of the LOC (Line of Control)in Kargil district of Ladakh.

Activities:
Hiking is the most frequent activity attributed to it.
The glacier provides adventure lovers a great opportunity to see the serenity of Suru Valley from the Nun Kun Summit.


Also, climbing this peak is a great possibility to get high altitude mount experience on a classic expedition. Effortless accessibility by road and the shortest possible way to reach base camp makes Nun and Kun peak one of the most alluring mountaineering goal in the Western Himalaya. The climbing term in the region extends from June to end of September when most of the rest of the Himalaya remains unreachable owing to the monsoon.
In winter, no expedition is on because of the valley remains cut-off from rest of the world for six months. As the high pass zojila road gets heavy snowfall resulted in huge avelanches block access from Srinagar to Kargil_Ladakh road. Since there's no air connectivity in Kargil_Ladakh so as the adventurer may easily come to this valley in winter too and take the benefit of adventurous and world most famous galcier Nun Kun expedition.
The administration has never take it serious to expedite the construction of airport at Kargil_Ladakh. This resulted in becoming a major halt in the progress and develooment of Kargil_Ladakh. In the midst of this political turbidity tourism industry hit adversely in particular.
