Suru Valley is the most beautiful, attractive place in the region of Ladakh-Kargil. Its very famous for tourist destination nestled in the lap of Himalayas. The lush green fields,mesmerising greeneries, lofty glaciers and snow capped mountains with blue sky gives us a  feeling of being paradise. Suru valley starts ahead of Minji upto Penzila glacier near Abran where from Suru river originates and at a distance of 65 km from Kargil town is its headquarter Tehsil taisuru is located.

The valley is drained by suru river, a tributary of indus river.Two rivers namely Shangshi and cheling further accompany with Suru river.The major source for Suru river is Nun and kun glacier followed by Penzila glacier. Nun and kun peak offers an amazing view to this valley which is 7135 and 7035 mtr. high respectively.

Because of getting more precipitate than any other part of Ladakh, the low land and mountains of this valley is rich in cultivation and the soils are very fertile.Due to its natural beauty Suru valley has strong tourism potential and is known as heartland of Ladakh. Every years number of visitors rushes toward this valley to see and enjoy the natural beauty. There are numerous tourist destination and activities like mountaineering, trekking, rafting, camping, cycling etc. trekking would be the most spectacular among all. Amidst trekking we have to travel through the way where we get an opportunity to see velvet like lush green surrounding us, which give adventure lovers  the feelings of paradise. The Valley also is scientifically and geologically very important.

The people of this valley is basically dard and Tibetan descent and the valley is inhibited by around 30000 population. Purgi (a tibetic language) is the main spoken language of this region..

 Its located in the west of Kargil_Ladakh at an elevation of 3000 meter(9,843 ft) stretch from Chutuk up until Penzi-la Glacier where from Suru River originates.

1)THANGBOO-PURTIKCHEY.

Thangbo Purtikchey is a village in Suru Region 50 km from Kargil which is the starting point to see the beautiful view of Nun Kun massif at a glance.


2) Damsna-Suru

Damsna is located just ahead of Thangboo Purtikchy, which is a famous picnic and tourist spot. In Damsna there is an amazing fish captivity of different species found in this valley. Moreover this place offers a spectacular view of Nun and Kun.


3) Maita(Suru) :

Maita is a Village of Suru Valley Kargil-Ladakh.Suru-Chandanwadi Pahalgam trek starts from here.

4)Kargee Suru :

Just 2 km ahead of Maita Village Kargee  starts where from the road bifurcate toward Model village Namsuru and a famous camping site place Khows.
Kargee is the staring point for Kargee-Astana Kargee-Sheshnag-Pahalgam trekking route.

5) Taisuru :

Taisuru is the headquarter of Suru Valley.
It is 65 km from Kargil.Tehsil and other govt offices located here.

6) Panikhar:

   Panikhar is Village of Suru Valley.Thuluks a famous Picnic Spot route starts from this village.A beautiful picturesque of Village Pursa along Suru river can be taken from here. Taisuru and Panikhar both are starting point of Panikhar-Pahalgam and Panikhar-Kishtwar trek route.

7) Tangole:

Tangole located at a distance of 10 km from the headquarter Taisuru and 75 km from Kargil District where from the base of Nun Kun Glacier starts and is suitable for base camp.
